Baby Turkeys

So I was packing for the move yesterday and I went to the living room to get another box and there in my driveway, not more than 30 feet away was a flock of turkeys.....at least four hens and possibly thirty chicks.  This photos is a few of the chicks just as a hen spotted me in the livingroom window.  People don't realize just what good eye sight they have and just how well they can fly.  They were in the air and halfway across my lawn before I could get out the front door right beside the window.  I am amazed that hunters can ever get a wild turkey.   Did you know that Ben Franklin wanted the wild turkey to be our national bird instead of the bald eagle?

Wrens Leave Nest Today

I am packing today with all my cats in the house.  I went out onto the porch this morning to feed the cats and the wren family was scolding me for having so many cats, when they needed to push their babies out today.   I just got a glimpse of the last baby leaving the nest a few minutes ago.  I will give them a few hours to get safely away from the house before letting the cats out.  The cats are well aware of what is going on and they are not happy to be indoors today.

My New House

My new house in just a few weeks, is your typical vinyl sided rancher, pretty but nothing special, but inside it is a mediterranian delight.  Open floor plan over a spacious basement.  I love, love, love it.  My husband is trying to entice me into taking a portion of the unfinished basement for my studio.  He promises to create a spacious studio next to his new Man Cave, and also put in a recroom.  In the interim, I will use a bedroom half the size of my current bedroom studio.  He promises me it will be spider free (I don't do spiders) and warm, dry and filled with light.  BUT, I have my eye on the two car garage with ceilings almost two stories high, is already drywalled and painted with a painted concrete floor.  It has great overhead lighting, wash up area just inside the house doorway and if you removed the roll up garage door and replaced it with french doors, BAM !!! you have a fabulous studio with two entry points and access to a restroom in the house without going outdoors.  All my friends out there should send Brett a note saying you think Linda deserves the garage studio since she has given up her dream house in Marshall for him, addressed to him at P O Box 257 Warrenton VA 20188. (our interim address, since we had no idea where we would end up)

Living in Limbo

I am living in limbo.  All my art studio supplies are in boxes, packed for our move.  We actually found a wonderful house to buy, just before we were going to rent a house.  So, we are now waiting for settlement and moving in on June 29th.  My bones in my hands and feet are aching terribly from creative withdrawl.  My doctor says it is arthritis, but I know better.  My hands and feet never hurt when I am creating.
